Wedding Announcement
Dr. Bonnie (Barrios) Abbott and George Abbott were married in a beautiful
outdoor ceremony on Flagstaff Mountain on June 2, 2007, and we
wish them every happiness as they begin their new lives and adventures together. Bonnie
has been an Associate Veterinarian at our hospital since 2001. Following her Mt. Kilimanjaro climb in September 2002, Dr.
Abbott went on an African safari
during which she took an exquisite series
of close-view wildlife photographs -- including lions,
leopards, elephants, zebras, giraffes, water buffalo, hyena cubs,
flamingos, and a variety of other wild animals and birds, in the
beautiful settings of their natural environments.

Introducing More of Our AAH Family...
We are very happy to announce that Dr. Scott Smith has joined Arapahoe Animal
Hospital as an Associate Veterinarian and brings a wealth of diverse
medical experience and knowledge. ~~ Also, many of the pets featured in the photos
throughout our website are "family members" of our hospital
staff . We add new "family member
photos" regularly ~ and we hope you'll get to know them throughout our
website pages. (We also hope you'll come
in to meet their relatives and doctors at our two
hospitals!) ALSO...
please be sure to hold your mouse arrow over
the photos in our website for special messages from and about these very special
pets!!

* * * * * Five-Star Comfort / Therapeutic Warmth!
Our hospital provides Bair Hugger forced-air warming blankets (used in
human hospitals) for patients needing extra warmth during their hospitalization,
surgery, and recovery. These special blankets provide gentle,
consistent heat which can quickly and dramatically reverse hypothermia
-- and prevent debilitated animals and surgical patients from experiencing
decreased body temperature.

Bow-WOW!!
"Pinkie" Hayes , prize-winning Golden Retriever of Becky and (Dr.)
Greg Hayes, won Best of Breed
at the Westminster
Dog Show at Madison Square Garden in
New York City on February 11, 2002. Born at our hospital in
1996, Pinkie has now retired from show business and prefers
family life, residing with her devoted owners and watching as new
generations of Golden Retriever puppies from the Hayes' superb Redog Kennels
unite with new families and begin happy lives! We hope you'll come in
and see Pinkie's Westminster photos and Winner's Coin and
Ribbon, displayed at our hospital!

For Your Pet's Dental Health...
Our hospital uses Dental Digital Radiography , the most advanced below-gum x-raying techniques
and diagnostics for your pet's teeth. Digital
radiography eliminates
lengthy film-development
time -- allowing quick dental film
reading and dramatically-reduced anesthesia
time for patients. Animal teeth (dogs have 42 teeth, cats have 30)
are often much smaller than humans', and dental digital radiography allows
visual enlargement
of x-rays to any size needed for
optimal reading and complete examination of even
the tiniest pet teeth and gums!

Indoor vs. Outdoor Cat Life
On average, indoor cats live 12-15
years
(many live much longer and, sadly, some have
shorter lives). Outdoor cats, however,
have an average lifespan of only 2-3 years
. Although many outside adventurers live long and healthy lives, going outdoors
can create serious and often fatal problems for cats when they are exposed to
contagious diseases, animal fights and predators, and traffic.

EMERGENCY and Intensive Care for Your Pet
Our doctors and staff are here seven days
a week for your pet's
emergencies and critical care needs, providing intensive
advanced veterinary care for pets of all species. Our
Intensive Care Unit provides
oxygen-enriched, climate-controlled
cage areas and nebulization
(for pets of all species and sizes experiencing respiratory distress), comforting
heated caging, and state-of-the-art medical
treatment.

Lost and Now I'm Found...Why Microchip?
Microchip implantation is a quick
and painless identification procedure for pets, widely used and nationally recognized, that
can save your pet's life
and bring him/her home
safely to you. Animal Shelters and most veterinary hospitals now routinely
scan for imbedded microchips when a lost animal is found. When an
identifying microchip is detected, a simple call to the 800#
can reunite owner
and pet. Please ask us about microchipping if your pet has not yet
received this valuable identification precaution!
