a beautiful baby boy, Ethan Witt Abbott, on March 2,

Our AAH Team and Hospital Family...
Dr. Scott Smith and Dr. Carisa Ralph joined Arapahoe
Animal Hospital as Associate Veterinarians in the spring and fall of 2007
(respectively), bringing a wealth of diverse medical experience and
knowledge to our practice. ~~ Also, many of the pets featured in the photos
throughout our website are "family members" of our hospital
staff
. (We hope you'll come
in to meet their relatives and doctors at our two
hospitals!) NOTE... please be sure to hold your mouse arrow over
the photos in our website for special messages from and about these very special
pets!!

* * * * * Five-Star Comfort / Therapeutic Warmth!
Our hospital provides Bair Hugger forced-air warming blankets (used in
human hospitals) for patients needing extra warmth during their hospitalization,
surgery, and recovery. These special blankets provide gentle,
consistent heat which can quickly and dramatically reverse hypothermia
-- and prevent debilitated animals and surgical patients from experiencing
decreased body temperature.

Bow-WOW!!
"Pinkie" Hayes , prize-winning Golden Retriever of Becky and (Dr.)
Greg Hayes, won Best of Breed
at the Westminster
Dog Show at Madison Square Garden in
New York City on
February 11, 2002. Born at our hospital in 1996, Pinkie retired from show business to
a quiet family life, after her fabulous win
-- residing with her devoted owners and watching as new
generations of Golden Retriever puppies from the Hayes' superb Redog Kennels
unite with new families and begin happy lives! We hope you'll come
in and see Pinkie's Westminster photos and her Winner's Coin and
Ribbon, displayed at our hospital!

For Your Pet's Dental Health...
Our hospital uses Dental Digital Radiography , the most advanced below-gum x-raying techniques
and diagnostics for your pet's teeth. Digital
radiography eliminates
lengthy film-development
time -- allowing quick dental film
reading and dramatically-reduced anesthesia
time for patients. Animal teeth (dogs have 42 teeth, cats have 30)
are often much smaller than humans', and dental digital radiography allows
visual enlargement
of x-rays to any size needed for
optimal reading and complete examination of even
the tiniest pet teeth and gums!

Indoor vs. Outdoor Cat Life
On average, indoor cats live 12-15
years
(many live much longer and, sadly, some have
shorter lives). Outdoor cats, however,
have an average lifespan of only 2-3 years
. Although many outside adventurers live long and healthy lives, going outdoors
can create serious and often fatal problems for cats when they are exposed to
contagious diseases, animal fights and predators, and traffic.

Hot Town, Summer Dogs and Kitties
Every year brings tragic accounts of animals left in
unventilated cars during hot weather. Car interiors can quickly reach
fatal temperatures for pets who are left unattended without water or
properly opened windows for cooling air flow. Even a
short
shopping stop can create the very real danger of heat stroke and fatality when a
pet is left in the car! Please be
sure your loved ones always have adequate air ventilation.

Lost and Now I'm Found...Why Microchip?
Microchip implantation is a quick
and painless identification procedure for pets, widely used and nationally recognized, that
can save your pet's life
and bring him/her home
safely to you. Animal Shelters and most veterinary hospitals now routinely
scan for imbedded microchips when a lost animal is found. When an
identifying microchip is detected, a simple call to the 800#
can reunite owner
and pet. Please ask us about microchipping if your pet has not yet
received this valuable identification precaution!
