Meet Our Doctors
Dr. Greg Hayes
, a native of Golden, Colorado, completed his undergraduate work at
Claremont College in Southern California. He received his veterinary
degree from Colorado State University Veterinary School in 1975, joining
Arapahoe Animal Hospital as an Associate that same year. Dr. Hayes became
co-owner of the hospital with Dr. Mike Furcolow in 1983 and
has co-owned Arapahoe Animal Hospital with Dr. Alan Myers since Dr.
Furcolow's retirement in 1998. In addition to practicing small animal
medicine, Dr. Hayes' medical expertise and experience include birds and other
exotics, and the training of domestic and wild animals for films and
commercials. Other special interests include falconery and
moviemaking.

Dr. Alan Myers
was raised in Prairie Village, Kansas, near Kansas City. He
completed his undergraduate studies at Kansas State University and received his
veterinary degree from Kansas State University Veterinary School in 1986.
After completing an Internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, Dr.
Myers joined Arapahoe Animal Hospital as an Associate in 1987, specializing in
general small animal internal medicine. He became co-owner of the hospital with
Dr. Greg Hayes in 1998. Dr. Myers and his wife, Tracey, live on a
small 100-yr-old farm where the barnyard family now includes eight goats, three
cows, and three donkeys.

Dr. Bonnie Abbott
is a native of Fort Collins, CO, and received her
veterinary degree from Colorado State University in 2000. After
completing an Internship program at Michigan State University Veterinary
Medical Center, Dr. Abbott joined Arapahoe Animal Hospital as an Associate
Veterinarian in 2001. Her special interests include
oncology, small animal surgery, geriatric medicine, exotic animal medicine, and
grief management. Dr. Abbott was honored in the August 2006 edition
of 5280 Magazine as One of Seven "Top Veterinarians" in the Denver
area. She is also an accomplished violist and former member of
the Longmont Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Abbott travelled to
Africa in 2002 to climb Mt. Kilamanjaro and participate
in an African wildlife safari. She and her husband, George,
are the proud parents of two young sons, Ethan and
Alden.

Dr. Scott Smith
,
born in Tacoma,
Washington,
to a military family, was raised primarily in the states of
New
York
and New
Hampshire.
He attended Auburn
University,
where he received both his undergraduate and
veterinary degrees (DVM 1995). Dr. Smith practiced in rural
Georgia
prior to moving to Boulder
County
in 1997 and continuing his veterinary career here. He joined
Arapahoe
Animal
Hospital
as an Associate Veterinarian in 2007. His medical interests
include soft tissue surgery and holistic veterinary therapies, as well
as the husbandry, medicine, and surgery of select exotic pets. In 2006, Dr.
Smith was certified in Veterinary Acupuncture by
Colorado
State
University
Veterinary
School.
A former Eagle Scout, he enjoys fishing and tracking wildlife, and
spending time at his family cabin in Northern Colorado with his wife,
Pamela, and their two sons, Tanner and Brody.

Dr. Jessica Vachon
received her veterinary degree from Colorado
State University Veterinary School and joined Arapahoe Animal Hospital in July
2011 following completion of her Internship at VCA Veterinary
Specialists of Northern Colorado in Loveland, CO. (Photo
